Foreword

Glenart College is part of Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board [KWETB] second level colleges. It is a progressive school which has catered for the changing educational needs of the people of Arklow and surrounding areas since 1905. We are very proud of the educational achievements of those who have passed through our doors in the meantime.
We take great pride in the healthy learning atmosphere that generations of pupils and teachers have created in the College. Our vibrant and dedicated staff members ensure a high quality education service in a setting where mutual respect, concern and consideration are expected. All staff members are encouraged to take the individual needs of students into account so that they can achieve their potential whatever their aptitudes may be.
As parents are the primary educators of the students their involvement is actively encouraged at the school and structures are in place to ensure that a strong partnership exists.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new parents and students and assure you that we will do everything we can to make your experience in Glenart College a happy and educationally productive one.
Our school does not exercise any student intake criteria and caters academically for a range of abilities using varied teaching strategies and offering a broad range of choice within the school curriculum. All students are treated equally as we prepare them to become citizens of the world.
The choice of a suitable second level school for your son/daughter is one of the most important and most difficult decisions any parent/guardian will ever have to make. Therefore, all concerned should choose carefully and wisely. Many factors have to be considered and by considering this prospectus we hope to help you with your final decision. Since 1905, Glenart College has provided a quality educational service for all sectors of its local community. It has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of many educational innovations. All of these initiatives are aimed at developing the full potential of each student in our care. At Glenart College we have an excellent range of subjects, taught to all levels by a highly qualified and professional team of teachers. Should any additional information be required, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

School Notes 17th November

A trip to Leinster House First year students had a wonderful experience as they travelled to Leinster House on Tuesday the 15th of November. They were greeted by their host Minister for Health Simon Harris who gave them lots of information about the building itself and the whole voting system. It was a very educational and most enjoyable trip. A special word of thanks to the minister for his time. First Responders A number of senior students participated in in a training session with Arklow First Responders on Friday the 11th of November. The students learned and later demonstrated life-saving skills in CPR, assisting a choking person adult, child or infant along with recognising signs of stoke in a person and how acting F.A.S.T. saves lives. The students are now confident in life-saving skills and how to assist a person in need using an AED – Automated External Defibrillator. Well done to all involved. It was a hugely successful training session with enthusiastic students and a professional team of First Reponse Instructors. An evening of entertainment All choir members along with the teachers from the drama department enjoyed a wonderful evening out last Friday. They attended Fiddler on the Roof…
