Foreword

Glenart College is part of Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board [KWETB] second level colleges. It is a progressive school which has catered for the changing educational needs of the people of Arklow and surrounding areas since 1905. We are very proud of the educational achievements of those who have passed through our doors in the meantime.
We take great pride in the healthy learning atmosphere that generations of pupils and teachers have created in the College. Our vibrant and dedicated staff members ensure a high quality education service in a setting where mutual respect, concern and consideration are expected. All staff members are encouraged to take the individual needs of students into account so that they can achieve their potential whatever their aptitudes may be.
As parents are the primary educators of the students their involvement is actively encouraged at the school and structures are in place to ensure that a strong partnership exists.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new parents and students and assure you that we will do everything we can to make your experience in Glenart College a happy and educationally productive one.
Our school does not exercise any student intake criteria and caters academically for a range of abilities using varied teaching strategies and offering a broad range of choice within the school curriculum. All students are treated equally as we prepare them to become citizens of the world.
The choice of a suitable second level school for your son/daughter is one of the most important and most difficult decisions any parent/guardian will ever have to make. Therefore, all concerned should choose carefully and wisely. Many factors have to be considered and by considering this prospectus we hope to help you with your final decision. Since 1905, Glenart College has provided a quality educational service for all sectors of its local community. It has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of many educational innovations. All of these initiatives are aimed at developing the full potential of each student in our care. At Glenart College we have an excellent range of subjects, taught to all levels by a highly qualified and professional team of teachers. Should any additional information be required, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,
Louise Kearns

Environmental Debates On Thursday 24th November last our debating team took part in this year’s Wicklow County Council Environmental Debating Competition. Glenart College was represented by Ethan Kelly, Jamie Byrne and Ben Usher as they took on Blessington Community College. Our team proposed the motion “We need to make our town’s car unfriendly to encourage a shift to car- free travel”. The students explored issues such as carbon emissions and the health implications of air pollution in addition to Ireland’s environmental obligations on an EU level. All participants spoke articulately and passionately on the topic and look forward to participating in the next round of the competition.   Table tennis Well done to the senior table tennis team who have won all their matches so far this year and sit at the top of the table in their group. They had an intense week of competitions playing Del La Salle Churchtown on Monday, CBC Monkstown on Tuesday and St Patrick’s grammar school on Thursday. Well done lads.   Well done also to the under 13 and under 15 teams also competing during the week especially the under 13’s who also have won all their games so far in the league.
