Duration: The academic year September to May, Monday to Friday 9am – 2pm.

Qualifications: Bachelor Commerce Honours Degree and Higher Diploma in Education
Experience: Over 15 Years experience of working in tutoring Post Leaving Certificate Programmes in Computer modules such as Word Processing, Legal Studies, Manual and Computerised Accounts, Computer Studies, Desk top Publishing etc.

Entry Requirement

Leaving Certificate (including Leaving Certificate Applied) with Passes in at least five subjects. Also open to mature students and those wishing to return to further education. Applicants may qualify for means-tested grant.

Work Experience:

The course involves a relevant work experience placement of two weeks duration in an organisation with administration and secretarial departments.

Careers as General Secretaries in:
• General Offices
• Schools, Hotels
• Insurance Offices
• Government Bodies and Agencies such as County Council Offices etc.

Higher Education Links

Successful graduates can progress to further education in related courses in Universities or Institutes of Technology through the Central Applications Office (CAO) system whereby each module result earns the following CAO points. A certain number of places are reserved in the CAO system each year for PLC students.
